Gott Miau Miau Avatar Mutter

2021-2023

“Got-Miau-Miau-Avatar-Mutter” is a collaborative art project that involved ower 200 contributors who created pencil drawings. The project began in 2021 as the concept was developed and run between 2022 and 2023 with a series of drawing sessions, resulting in approximately 250 sketches. These sketches were then engraved onto the surfaces of the Zille-Haus, creating an interactive experience for viewers.

Upon first glance, the artworks can be challenging to locate. They require attentive searching and physical touch to be properly experienced, rather than relying solely on sight. The engravings are easily reproducible by visitors, who can copy them by laying a piece of paper over the engraving and using a pencil to transfer the drawing.

The title of the piece, “Got-Miau-Miau-Avatar-Mutter,” is a combination of words derived from the various drawings created by the participants. This fusion of contributions represents the collective imagination and perspectives that shaped the work. By incorporating words from the drawings, the title serves as a suggestive reflection of the communal nature of the project.

The project is an act of trust between the artist and participants. All the sketches that were submitted were accepted and engraved onto the walls, windows, and floors of the Zille-Haus without any selection process. The drawings varied from detailed figurative sketches to letterings and abstract expressions.
